OneTeenWorld is committed to combating socioeconomics disparities and provide food for those in need. We hope you join us in our journeys in feeding not only Hunterdon County but all of New Jersey...
It is a common misconception that nutrition only is a pressing issue in developing second and third world countries. Poverty couldn't possibly be here, right? Wrong.
Despite Hunterdon being one of the leaders in the nation for median household income, US Census data still found that 4.1% of Hunterdon County residents are living in poverty. That's 1 in 25 citizens of the 13th wealthiest county in the country as stated by the 2020 United States census.
What makes matters worse is that the cost of living is higher than average in Hunterdon.
One such example is this:
In 2022, though Hunterdon has experienced the greatest percentage growth in SNAP applicant, the county continues to have the lowest number of SNAP recipients in the state with only 3,132.
We need to get over the fact that we can't possibly believe that there are people starving in the neighborhood just across the street, and instead come together as a community to eliminate in Hunterdon.
Our goal is to promote improved access to nutritious food and promote healthy eating habits in communities facing food insecurity and malnutrition.
We advocate international campaigns such as providing food aid, nutrition education, agricultural support (e.g., farming education and micro-gardening) as well as to promote sustainable food production and reduce dependence on external aid.
Join us for our food fundraisers and help us raise funds for other programs. From galas to food drives, there's something for everyone. Come have fun while making a difference!
